We are a local, independently owned pet supply retailer serving dog and cat families across North Carolina. We focus on natural pet food, healthy treats, safer chews, practical pet-care guidance, and community-centered service.

We are a local, family-owned business—not a national chain or franchise. We grew from a small start in 2007 into a multi-location pet retailer while staying rooted in the communities and pet families we serve.

We started Unleashed in 2007 after selling natural dog chews and pet food at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds flea market. That early focus on better pet food and healthier chew options still shapes what we do today.

We were founded and are run by JP and Amy Phinney. We have built Unleashed over time as a family-owned business focused on helping pets and the people who care for them.

We offer more than pet products. We provide in-person help, thoughtful recommendations, and real conversations about nutrition, chews, behavior, and everyday care. We are here to help you find a good fit for your pet—not simply move boxes as cheaply as possible.

We primarily serve dogs and cats, including households with one or both. We carry food, treats, chews, toys, enrichment, supplies, and care products selected for their everyday needs.

Yes. Natural pet food, safer chews, and healthier pet-care options have been central to our business since the beginning. We carry a curated selection of natural, ingredient-conscious, minimally processed, and function-focused products for dogs and cats.

No. We serve both dog and cat families. While some of our services, such as self-service dog wash, are dog-focused, we also carry food, treats, toys, enrichment, and everyday supplies for cats.

We operate 11 brick-and-mortar Unleashed stores, supported by a central warehouse operation.

We have Unleashed store locations across North Carolina, from the Triangle to the coast. Visit our Locations page to find the store nearest you, including its address, hours, phone number, and available services.
