We are proud to partner with many local rescues in Raleigh, Durham, Wilmington and the surrounding areas. There are several ways we work with these groups to help them save as many homeless pets as possible, learn more below.

Meet & Greet/
Adoption Events
Did you know that most weekends you can find a rescue group doing a Meet and Greet at at least one of our stores? This could mean adoptable pets for you to meet, learning ways you can get involved with the rescue, and the possibility for a puppy cuddle! Keep in mind, if you want to adopt, you need to apply ahead of time with the rescue!

The Cat Shack
Our Stonehenge store in North Raleigh hosts the Cat Shack! This is a set of spaces where adoptable cats from local rescues come and live for a while, hoping to meet their perfect match. You never know when you'll meet your new best friend so stop by and see if anyone catches your eye!
The adoption process and meet and greets are all handled by the rescue groups so make sure to reach out to them if you're hoping to adopt! Their contact information can be found alongside the animal info on each enclosure.

Velvet Acres Animal Rescue is our partner rescue that coordinates the Cat Shack. If you would like to help care for the cats, you can learn more and sign up to volunteer here.
Charity Dog Washes
Each of our full store locations that have a dog wash, can host a Charity Dog Wash. A rescue group signs up to use our space and supplies and brings volunteers to wash your dog for you. Your money goes to them as a donation and you get a clean dog!
Donations
All Unleashed locations accept donations during their normal business hours. We don't have many restrictions on what we accept as donations and so we get a variety of things including food, treats, toys, crates, bedding/towels, and many other supplies. In addition to items donated by the public, Unleashed donates damaged and returned bags of food. These could have had broken seams or holes in the bag on delivery, or could be a customer return (food is not donated if the reason for return was a suspected problem with the food, itself).

All these donations are distributed to a variety of local rescues on a rotating basis so that we help as many pets as possible!
Outside Partnerships
Sometimes, a rescue group has an event in mind that requires some extra space, that's where we come in! Our community rooms have hosted Cat Yoga fundraisers, Paint-Your-Pet fundraisers and other fun things. These events are open to the public by sign-up (usually through the rescue group or other business they are partnering with) and you come enjoy a fun activity while a portion of the fee goes to help the rescue group save more pets!
Seasonal Parties & Other Events
Our holiday parties in the stores are always a good time and we love inviting rescue groups to participate as much as possible. Meeting adoptable pets is the perfect addition to the treat buffets and games that are a staple you know and love.
We have also done can food drives, stuff-the-truck drives and similar events that extend for a longer period of time, rather than a one day event. ​

We've even had a foster mom host a 1st birthday party with us for a litter that she fostered as babies! Almost all the pups came, except the one or two whose families had moved out of state and it was so much fun!!
Adoption Brochure
Did you know that we have an Adoption Brochure available for our partner rescues to give out to anyone who adopts a pet from them? Well we do!

It has all kinds of great info about Unleashed and coupons for a variety of supplies for families welcoming a new pet! You'll find great deals on food, treats, and gear as well as a coupon for a free bath in one of our dog wash stations! Don't miss it and make sure to ask the rescue rep about yours if your adopting soon!
Seasonal Photos
We LOVE providing a space for rescue groups to do seasonal photo shoots! Photos with Santa and the Easter bunny are the most popular but anything is possible, we've even had a group do Valentine's photos.
It's up to each rescue group how exactly the photos are handled, they may have a photographer there to take the pictures or they may have you bring your own camera or use your phone. Usually they have someone available to take the photo for you if needed or if you want to be in it with your pet. They also determine the cost and collect that as a donation. You get an adorable pic of your pet AND help out a local rescue!
Angel Trees
Every year, each Unleashed location likes to have at least one Angel Tree (or wreath) from a local rescue during the holiday season. Some of the larger stores may do multiple trees or tree/wreath combinations, depending on interest from our partner rescues for that location.
On each tree or wreath, you'll find ornaments with an adoptable pets photo on one side and their wish list on the back. You just purchase the item/s and leave them under the tree! The rescue comes and picks things up as needed and you help make sure pets in need have an awesome holiday season!
And of course...
Spring Fling is our annual fundraiser event, and if you haven't been, you're missing out! There are pet related vendors, food trucks, and local rescues with adoptable pets. Plus, the area's largest doggy easter egg hunt with a ton of amazing prizes, including a year's worth of free pet food from us, Unleashed! The event is free to attend and money raised from the egg hunt, raffle, and any games is split between all the rescues that participate!
