Marketing Assistant

Hi! I’m Shannon. I was born and raised in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and I’m getting ready to move to Franklinton. I joined Unleashed as the full-time marketing assistant in January 2025, but my journey with the company started years ago with a little hound dog named Maximus.

I adopted Max when I was 13-years-old, and he completely changed my life. He introduced me to the world of dog sports and later became my service dog. We trained hard, earned multiple agility titles, and even made the 2020 Junior World Agility Championship USA Team. Around the same time, I had just been accepted to UNCC and felt like my future was finally coming together.

Then the pandemic hit. The championship was canceled, college moved online, and everything changed. I left UNCC and wasn’t sure what was next until I remembered a little pet store Max and I had visited a few years back... Unleashed.

I started full-time in 2021 at the Crabtree kiosk, with Max at my side. A few months later, I moved to the City Market location, where I learned the importance of pet nutrition. Since then, I’ve worked at every Unleashed location in the Triangle, served as an assistant manager, and discovered my passion for marketing and social media.

Along the way, I picked up some new friends. Artichoke, my German Shepherd/Aussie mix, was being fostered by my friend at our Cary store. After one shift, I knew he was mine. Inferno, my orange tabby, came home with me after a barista offered him to me during a store coffee run. Hex, my tuxedo cat, showed up in my driveway the day after Halloween and decided he wasn't going anywhere.

My Australian Shepherd has been here all along. Shiloh is his name, and Stranger Danger is his game... so you won't see him around the stores.

Max is now retired from work and sports, but he’s still the best "Marketing Assistant's assistant" that a girl could ask for. Whether he’s lying by my desk or starring in a video, he’s always part of what I do. I’m so thankful for him and for finding a company whose mission I truly believe in.
